Print labels for a purchase order after Stocky
Stocky used to let you print a label for every item on a purchase order. Stocky was retired on August 31, 2026, and Shopify's built-in purchase orders don't print labels. The good news: you can still do it, in about a minute.
How it works
When you create a purchase order in Shopify (Products → Purchase orders) and mark items as ordered, Shopify tracks the incoming stock as an inventory transfer. Label apps can read that transfer, with the exact quantity of each variant. So instead of typing 200 quantities by hand, you print straight from the transfer.
Step by step with Tagwise
- Create the purchase order in Shopify as usual and mark it as ordered.
- Open Tagwise and click From a transfer or purchase order.
- Pick the transfer for your supplier. Every variant appears with the ordered quantity already filled in.
- Adjust if a few items arrived short, check the preview, and click Create PDF.
Variants without a barcode are flagged in the preview. Give them an in-store EAN-13 code from the Generate barcodes screen (how in-store barcodes work), or let the label fall back to the SKU.
Tips for receiving stock
- Print labels before you unpack, then label as you count: you will spot missing items immediately.
- Use a roll printer (Dymo, Zebra, Rollo) for large deliveries; Avery sheets get slow past a few hundred labels.
- If you print the price, update prices in Shopify first: the label always uses the current price.
